Filings and services can be paid for via the following options.

Cash, Check or Money Order

Please make checks and money orders payable to the Idaho Secretary of State.
Please DO NOT send cash through the mail.

Please note: Not all filings with our office can be accepted via fax. Please check with us if you are not sure. For example, Notary Public applications cannot be accepted via fax.

Pre-Paid Account

You may wish to establish a pre-paid account with us if you are or will be doing on-going business with our office.

What is a pre-paid account
Money deposited into an account for filings and services yet to be provided. The Secretary of State's Fiscal Department will assign a Customer Number, which needs to appear on all subsequent filings and services rendered.

Instructions for using your pre-paid account

Establishment of account.
A pre-paid customer account may be established for each office, activity, processing center, etc. which pays for services of the Secretary of State's Office. For each account, there must be only one mailing address, one responsible contact person, one telephone number and, if fax service is available, one fax number. However, more than one account may be established using the same address, contact person and phone number if necessary for your internal accounting procedures. If you need to change information on existing account this can be done by written notification.

Use of account customer number.

  • Enter the account's customer number on all transmittals which draw on or pay into the account.
  • On payments, enter the customer number on the "for" line on the check.
  • For corporation, limited partnership, trademark, notary, elections, and miscellaneous filings, enter the customer number at the top of the first page of the document.     
  • UCC forms contain a block to enter the customer number. It is usually in the top portion of the form. When making a telephone information request, include the customer number in the request.
  • If UCC filing documents are submitted without fees and without a customer number the Secretary of State will return the documents to the filing party without processing for lack of payment of fees.
  • If an applicant for establishment of a pre-paid account is an existing user of services of the Secretary of State, its existing customer number will become its pre-paid account customer number.

Account statements.
The Secretary of State will mail a statement for each account once each month. The statement will detail each payment into and draw upon the account since the previous statement and will state a closing balance.

Funding and replenishment.
We recommend that the account be funded at a level to sustain it for at least one month. For that reason, you should initially fund it with one and one half times your projected monthly dollar volume of business through the account, subject to a minimum initial funding of $200. If you wish to replenish the account less frequently than monthly, you may fund it at a higher level to cover several months. You may replenish the account as often as necessary after initial funding. If you are on a month-to-month basis, we recommend you replenish it by the amount of the draws shown on the monthly statement, or by a greater amount if the closing balance is near or below zero.

Terminating a Pre-paid Account.
You may terminate a pre-paid customer account by a written request at any time. The request must include the customer number and be signed by a person with authority to act for the account owner. The Secretary of State will refund any positive balance in the account.
